How to Fortify Body of Aging Due to Stress

Stress is a leading cause of aging arrival of the body faster than it should. In fact in our lives stress can not be avoided. And so we need a way be able to shield the body from the adverse effects of stress, especially premature aging.

A new study found that maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the key to reducing the negative impacts caused by stress on the body. In the study, researchers analyzed 239 women aged 50-65 years for diet, exercise, sleep, as well as decrease the effects of stress and aging at the cellular level.

During the study period, participants reported their health and behavior, including their conditions of severe stress such as loss of a job or spouse.

To see the impact of stress on the cells, the researchers measured the length of the cell structures called telomeres which are "caps" on the ends of chromosomes. Telomeres shorten as cells divide slowly, so that telomere length may be an indicator of cell aging. Telomeres were measured in this study are derived from white blood cell chromosomes.

The results showed, stressful events associated with the shortening of telomere size. However, health behavior can reduce the impact, so the stress did not significantly affect telomere shortening.

In contrast, the participants who did not lead a healthy lifestyle, such as lack of exercise, unhealthy eating, and lack of sleep, when experiencing stressful events, they face the size of telomere shortening faster.

Eli Puterman, assistant professor of medicine at the University of California said, people need to stay active, maintain a healthy diet, and get enough sleep, especially when under stress, "he said.

This finding is consistent with results of previous studies that also found an association between telomere pemendeknya pace with lifestyle and mental health. But until now investigators are still searching for how a person's age also plays a role in conjunction with other factors, such as heredity, behavior, and the originator of stress.
