Solutions to Healing Insomnia

One of the common factors that causes insomnia is stress.   If you find yourself in a stressful job, or stressful home environment, you might want to consider ways to reduce the amount of stress that you experience.

There are also some lifestyle choices that can cause insomnia, like consuming alcohol before bed as well as excess consumption of caffeine.

Your sleeping environment can also play a huge part in whether or not you get a good nights sleep.

Insomnia is much more rampant now than it ever was before because people expect to be on the go all day and then they expect their minds and bodies to just shut down suddenly at night, giving them a good sleep so they can get up and do it all over again the next day.

Sleep is not just about closing your eyes and opening them the next morning. It is so much more than that. During sleep, your brain continues to function, in the sense that sleep is when memories are stored for later use and the regeneration of brain cells happens while you are asleep. For these two factors alone, getting enough sleep is very important.

The bed should be a place only for sleep to someone who has chronic sleeping problems. Otherwise the brain sees the bed as having other uses and won’t shut down when the time comes.

Sleep is important for everyone, both on quantity and quality aspects. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to sleep. You should also try to identify the root cause of your sleeping problem. If it is because of bedroom environment, then get it improve. stress is another major contributor to the sleeping problem. If this is the root cause, then you have to make yourself relax.

Some general tips to overcome your insomnia problem

1. You should avoid Stress and Worries . Stop thinking about work, problem or anything else at bedtime. If an individual is stressed  of anxiety in their life, than one solution is to write down all of their problems before going to bed and leaving the list somewhere other than in the bedroom.

2. Go to the bed on the same timing every night, make it as a routine. Even on the weekend, try to follow the same routine.

3. Create a good sleep environment. Make sure your room temperature is comfortable and have ventilation. Keep the noise level down. Keep your room dark during sleep hours. If you are using air conditioning, set a comfortable temperature to you, you might also make use of the timer to turn off the airconditioning automatically on midnight. Use air conditioning only when it is necessary, try to use fan with the window open as it provide better room ventilation.

4. Some of the best advice given is to take the time in the few hours before bed to slow down and prepare the mind for the sleep that will be coming. Some suggestions might be sipping on a hot cup of tea before bedtime.
