Peppermint Oil

Peppermint has been shown to benefit tension headaches. This fresh-smelling oil has vaso-dilating and vaso-constricting properties, which help control blood flow in the body. Headaches are often due to poor blood flow, and peppermint oil helps to promote flow.

This home remedies also open up the sinuses so that more oxygen can get into the bloodstream.

Lavender Oil

Lavenders also a useful home remedy for migraine pain. Lavender oil can be either applied or inhaled topically.  As a headache treatment, 2 to 4 drops for every 2 to 3 cups of boiling water are recommended when inhaling lavender-oil vapors. Lavender Oil can also be safely applied externally without the need to dilute it.

Basil Oil

This herb used as a topping for pastas and pizzas, certainly smells good and tastes. For natural headache treatment, basil oil can be a useful home remedy. Basil works as a muscle relaxant, so it is especially helpful for headaches caused by tight muscles and tension.

It can be an effective way to alleviate headaches and migraine pain. Massaging the greater occipital nerve (the area in the back of the head, at the base of the skull) reduces headaches and migraine pain. Massage has been identified as a useful home remedy for migraine pain and headaches, especially reflexology.

Useful home remedies for reducing migraine pain involves making changes to your diet. Certain foods affecting the severity and frequency of migraine pain, including dairy; peanut butter; chocolate; certain fruits such as banana, avocado, and citrus; foods containing MSG; onions; meats with nitrates, such as bacon; foods containing tyramine; and foods that are fermented or pickled.

Flaxseed

Headaches that caused by inflammation can be reduced by consuming Flaxseed that rich in omega-3 fatty acids. They can be used as a home remedy in several forms, including as an oil or whole seeds.

Feverfew

Feverfew used to treat fever, and herbal headache treatment. One study showed improvement in headaches and migraine pain among people who took daily feverfew in combination with white willow, which contains properties similar to aspirin.

Buckwheat

Buckwheat rich in flavonoid that useful to treat headaches and migraine pain. Flavonoids are antioxidant properties, which counteract damage to cells. In addition, researchers have demonstrated the effects of flavonoids on inflammation, a common cause of headaches.
