9 Simple Ways to Heal Cracked Heels

Cracked heels or heel fissures is rather than just lack of moisturizing. Cracked heels also indicate omega-3 fatty acid and zinc deficiency. Cracked heels can be caused by dry skin or thick skin around the rim of the heel, as well as dry air, improper foot care, lack of moisture, an unhealthy diet and unsuitable shoes too. 1. Rice Flour

Rice flour can be used as an exfoliating scrub that will remove dead skin from cracking and the dryness. Mix a handful of ground rice with apple cider vinegar and honey. Stir it until it becomes a thick paste. Add a few drops of olive oil or sweet almond oil (optional).

2. Vegetable Oil



Vegetable oils can be used to prevent and treat cracked heels. Sesame oil, olive oil, coconut oil will work. Apply this oil on your heels overnight. Scrub your heels with a pumice stone, then apply the oil on your heels. Put on a clean socks and leave it for overnight. Next day, your heels will be softer. Repeat this until the heel fissures are gone completely.

3. Margosa leaves

Margosa leaves or neem has been used since ages in India. This leaves contains fungicidal properties that are effective in treating cracked heels and give you soft and smooth heels.

Crush a handful of neem leaves to make a fine paste and add turmeric powder. Mix it, then apply this paste to the cracks of heels. Apply the paste on the cracks and leave it on for about half an hour. Wash off your feet with water and dry them with a soft cloth. Use this remedy once a day.

4. Rosewater and Glycerin

Glycerin softens the skin, which is a major ingredient in many skincare products.
Rosewater is a great skin toner loaded with essential vitamins such as vitamins A, B3, C, D, and E as well as antibacterial and antiseptic properties.

Soak your feet in warm water that is mixed with lemon juice, rosewater salt, and glycerin every night before retiring to bed. This will help to soothe and cure cracked heels.

5. Lemon

The acidic property in lemons removes the dead skin cells that can lead to cracking. Apply lemon juice directly on the rough skin. Or, soak your feet for 15 minutes in warm water with lemon juice added to it. Wash off using a pumice stone and soap.

6. Paraffin Wax

Another solution is to melt paraffin wax and mix it well with little coconut oil or mustard oil. Heat it until the wax melts thoroughly. Apply on the dry or cracked area of the heels before going to bed. Rinse it off in the morning. A continuous application for about15 days can achieve desirable results.

7. Honey

Honey has antibacterial properties and moisturizing, making it an excellent treatment for cracked heels. Take one cup of organic honey and 2 cups of milk and put them into a basin, then mix these well. Soak your feet in the water for about 20 minutes to loosen the dead skin. Scrub your feet gently. Wash your feet with water, pat them dry and apply a thick moisturizer.

8. Banana

Ripe bananas are a simple dry cracked heels home remedy and it can be used on a daily basis to treat dry and cracked heels. Mash one ripe banana into a smooth paste. 9. Warm Salt Water

Soak your feet in warm, salty water for about 15 minutes. Then put your feet in cold water. Pat them dry and apply a petroleum jelly to lock in the moisture.
